Hunter Barbarians Rugby Club on track to deliver major donation

A big boost in funds for Fair Go for Kids Charity

These young Singleton based “Barbarians” recently had a great day fundraising on behalf of Leapfrog for Fair Go for Kids. They walked the donation bucket around at Rugby Park during the Junior and Senior games all up they raised $87.90.

Their efforts contribute to a huge boost received by Leapfrog Ability's charity "Fair Go for Kids", which aims to reduce the hardship and distress of children in our community who are disadvantaged or living with a disability.

The Hunter Barbarians began in 2011, when a band of under 11’s boys from Rugby Union clubs around the Hunter Valley joined together to support and raise awareness of a very important social program aimed at combating “Bullying in Schools”.  Soon it became an annual carnival with teams travelling between the Hunter and Coffs Harbour each year. The goal of the trip, and every trip since, was not to win the Carnival but to raise funds for a chosen Children’s charity, while enjoying all the game of Rugby has to offer, especially the way it breaks down barriers, and installs in its players the virtues of fair play, teamwork and acceptance. In addition to the fantastic efforts of youngsters like these, The Hunter Barbarians, to date this year, have donated well over $5,000 to Fair Go for Kids (and that’s just off the back the last season).

We are enormously grateful to them, and the many local companies who generously donated. We will keep you updated as to how their donation will be helping a local child in need.

Our website and Facebook page will soon be updated to better reflect the efforts of all the members of our local Community who give so much to help Fair Go for Kids.
